I am a consultant with Arbonne; although only to get the good price on products for myself.  I received an email about their bankruptcy and restructuring but it also assured the consultants not to worry.
Okay, is anyone worried??

I am also a consultant and only have a handful of retail customers.
I am not too worried as I don't feel like I personally have a lot of risk exposure if something worse were too happen.

That being said, it is only their USA and Canada operations that are in Chapter 11. Australia and the UK are unaffected. They have made it very clear that the Chapter 11 filing was purely to reorganize their debt and they have been pretty upfront so I think things should be OK.

I think their timing was probably well chosen as NTC is in March and they are going to announce more products etc.

Many large companies have gone through Chapter 11 before and been in much worse shape and they are still in operation. United Airlines would be the one that comes to mind first.

Hi Kim,

I'm not an expert on the restructuring but have read both sides regarding Arbonne's filing for bankruptcy and perhaps it's exactly what they need to get themselves in the right direction again. The only thing that popped into my head is that it might be a challenge to recruit people into Arbonne's business in the midst of all this restructuring. But for people who love Arbonne's products, I'm sure they will continue to be happy customers.

Oh no! I really don't know much about Arbonne. I am sorry for everyone who works with them and/or loves shopping with them.

The company I work with is debt free, and still made more money last year that the previous year, even in the wake of this economic crisis. So I know I am good. But that is scary isn't it? What I bring in is huge for my family! I can't imagine suddenly not having it. It's the same thing as getting laid off. Good luck to everyone with Arbonne!

Kim,

It is true, and it is a scary time for the customers and distributors of Arbonne. If it survives the restructuriing of over $800 million in debt, it will be 85% bank owned.

I have a friend that is with Arbonne mainly for the products like yourself. I have been a part of a couple of organizations throughout my career and watched them come and go. I even remember the shake up of Amway. In this environment, we need to partner with companies with strong financials, with real growth with profitablity. Be resilent, it isn't that this industry is not the right one, it sometimes comes down to the right company and the right leadership and the right team.

Change is not always a bad thing, it sometimes makes it possible for you to go into something that is better, and you may not have been open to if this crisis didn't happen.

There are many excellent opportunities out there and I wish you the best which ever decision you make.
