OMG would I LOVE to enter this contest, but here is the problem: I am a spiritual director, have been since 1998, registered my buisness with the state and Feds, did all the right stuff, but hardly anyone came to see me, why you may ask?

Well, if you put 100 Catholic women together and asked them how many have seen a spiritual director, maybe, maybe on a VERY good day, you might get two women to raise their hands. If you ask them ever been on a retreat there will be nods and whispered, oh yes I have, and ten hands may go up. But tell them that a spiritual director was running the retreat and you get blank stares.

So here I was fresh out of the Saint Francis Dominic Centre for Religious Formation in DeWitt Michigan with my certificate as a spiritual director, a minister of the church and eyes shinning with thoughts of becoming the next Oprah. Well, there were no real classes on how to start up yourself for practice, no real discussion on how to protect yourself from trouble, and my hubby said we need to get you to see our family lawyer, thank God for goo High school friendship and networking, to get you started on the right foot! Love that man, my hubby!

Will, after all the paperwork was signed, I set out to dazzle the world, I had two directees, (directee: someone who sees a spiritual director), the first year, than one, than I had to go to work for my diocese here to use my skill. Well my business went under, and I had to stop; now I am in the Catch 22, I have no money, so no business, no clients, so no business, so few people know about spiritual direction that spiritual directors are suffering with only seeing two and three directees a YEAR! But I know, I KNOW there are women/moms: that is who I work with, that CRAVE this, WANT this, NEED this just don't know where to find and how.

How do I know this? Because when the very few women I have and still have, though it is now as a support group sponsored by my church, they tell me to a mom how much they need to improve and strengthen their spiritual lives! As one directee said to me years ago: "its not like you are in the yellow pages!"

So, I see the contest and my eyes widen with delight! I have material I am working on! I have created: Nurturing Mother Cards ala Debbie Ford only Catholic! I have services I provide! But then I think I can't enter this, they will ask for business info and I don't have that anymore, so another avenue closes, now I just wait for God to open the path to new one!
