One thing I'm doing, that is slowly picking up momentum is offering my "services" to others. Many mompreneurs don't have the time or staff to conduct social networking activities [facebook, twitter, etc] or even update their websites or send our their emails [you gotta send out the emails, it is the gasoline that powers the website machine] - anyway I'd been approached by several mom entrepreneurs about doing this type of thing for them and so I've put it out for the whole world to see.
I do a multitude of things! I offer free video tips to get my customer (the mom entrepreneur) to get to know me a little bit better, I offer free tele-classes,write and submit articles, post information on my blog, network and offer special gifts! I have a part time Virtual Assistant to help me with tasks as well. Give your gifts and you will quickly, not slowly, pick up the momentum!
I've offered 25% off on all First time Mary kay orders through me. I also offer frequent specials...sometimes up to 40% off on certain items, just to allow folks to try a product. I've run ads via The Shepherd's Guide, Kennedale Dispatch and post specials frequently on Facebook, EMomentrepreneur, etc. and tried to participate in several local vendor shows/fall carnivals, shopping fairs etc. I also post ads at the local recreation center near my home and email my customer base. This has been a tough year, for a number of reasons, but I am always hopeful of making contacts ...so that even though they might not make a purchase now, they will do so later when things pick up. I tell my vendor friends, it's as much about the contact opportunity as it is about making sales, to me anyway! I am currently reaching out to friends and asking that they host online or in-house parties to earn free Mary Kay Products.
I do all or similar for my Customized Gift basket business, including $5.00 off any basket over $40. I met a very nice woman, and fellow vendor at a local craft fair (she was the coordinator) who has purchased 6 baskets in the last month! I love those repeat customers and reward with great deals and discounts!
I tried deals and discounts. They didn't really work for me. Since all of my product is handmade, if I sell it at a discount, then I am selling myself at a discount. That doesn't really work since my mortgage company won't give me a discount. lol.
So I have been working instead to improve my product and create more of the type of designs that have done well for me in the past. I had a good November, and have high hopes for December. The "shopping season" is my best time of year.
I do various things.. I did a "hostess only" discount on all items pink. They loved it! Plus I sent out some Vistaprint postcards that I customized to show some of our amazing products that can be share with anyone in the family (like our massage set, bath and body and candles etc) plus that special gift for your sweetheart (specially if he is hard to buy for) and for you. I book parties offering my hostesses any item of their choice up to a $50 value at the price of the days the party is away from the day I call them (for example I called today if you book your party on the 5th you get that item for $4) I have had awesome success!! Plus emailing and keeping them updated through my Facebook page is a great tool also.
I'm offering free shipping thru the 12th of December. It'll kill my bottom line but at least it keeps my name out there. :) (Aventine Hill Bath Emporium)
I am new to the group, so an unfamiliar face to most but I wanted to extend to all an invitation to my Blog I put together a special report specifically for that and I can see lots could probably implement some of the strategies really quickly.
Hi, I work with Scent-sations home of Mia Bella Gourmet candles. I am now offering On the go Bag shows for the person with a busy lifestyle. They have nothing different to do in their busy day but let all they come in contact with smell our wonderfull product with samples I give them and then take orders. I offer a percentage of the profits as all are looking to make extra money during the holidays. Laura Reynolds www.scentsationallifestyle.com
I'm doing all of it...and just in the past two weeks I've seen some business come to me as a result of some work and donations I've made over the last two years. It's truly amazing to me to see how God has been blessing both my Mary Kay business and my Basket Business. I have some great specials going on.... in addition to 25% off on all new Mary Kay orders, I'm offering a $5.00 of any basket order to my regular cusotmers and a discount (up to 20% off) on Mary Kay orders for existing customers! order 24.7 @www.marykay.com/krollwage or www.1-basket.com. If customers order Mary Kay for a gift basket order, I give them 30% off! Just for the month of February...but I give great discounts year-round!
I have built my business by giving away free stuff. When I tell people that they never understand how I could make money giving away free stuff. Then I tell them that I made 2.3 million giving away FREE Stuff. Free stuff such as reports, audios, e-books, or e-course build a creditability status with your reader. This is especially true when you are building a business online. Because they can not see you they want to know that you are legit. This has worked for me and is continuing to work for me.
I also have a full sales team in about 20 states. I'm sure that helps as well. If you can not afford a sales team try implementing an affiliate program. You can get a great affiliate program management system for only $39.99/month without having the expensive fees by going to Wahmcart.
