Tell me about
yourself, your family? I am the mom of three wild and crazy
little boys ages 6, 4 and 1 and wife of one extremely wonderful
husband (who right now is in the kitchen doing the dishes-isn't he
great?). We live in San Diego for his job and my days are filled
with enjoying my family-going to parks, the beach, museums, reading
stories, baking cookies and all of the wonderful (and sometimes not
so wonderful) things that come with staying at home with my
kids.
What do you do for fun? Other than being a mom, which is my first priority and my greatest love, and running my business, which is my passion in my spare time, I love to read, bake, and be around friends.
Tell me about your business(s) [what you sell/do/etc]? My business focuses on all things relating to babies and kids (and mom too). Everything from personalized toddler backpacks to baby shower supplies, baby bracelets to Mom Agendas, superhero capes to nap mats and much much more. One of my favorite parts of owning this business is getting to see all of the really neat products that are out there.
How long have you been a Mom Entrepenuer? I started my business 5 and a half years ago - I can't believe it has been that long!
What made you get into the
business? My husband was starting graduate school back in 2003
and we had a 2 month old baby. I knew I wanted to stay at home with
him but I also knew that living on a graduate school stipend would
be hard, so I began my business to bring in a little extra money. I
started out sewing and making everything myself but within a few
years business had grown so much and I had one more child and it
just got to be too much. So I made the switch to selling things
that other people make or things that are manufactured. Today my
business has grown about 100 times more than I ever expected it
to.
What motivates you? My business is my favorite hobby - I have spent endless hours working on it, building the website, finding new products, fine tuning and I have loved almost every minute of it.
Can you recommend any good resources/websites/networks? My best advice to other moms running websites is to spend your time learning how to optimize your site for search engines - that will be your biggest factor in having a successful site.
