Debra Killen Custom Embroidery and Personalized Gifts

1. Tell me about yourself, your family? My name is Debra and I have been married for 23 years. I have two boys, 18 and almost 12. I graduated from college with a degree in math and a minor in computer science. I worked as a programmer before I had children but then wanted to stay home with them. I gradually started doing embroidery for family and friends. I also teach school now part-time.

2. What do you do for fun? I love to read, sew, craft. I love learning new crafting skills.

3. Tell me about your business(s) [what you sell/do/etc]? I offer custom embroidery of a wide range of products. I started out making shirts for grandmothers. We put faces for each grandchild on the shirt. I branched out to towel wraps and other graduation/wedding gifts and baby gifts. I am always looking for new great products to personalized. I really love to sew!

4. How long have you been a Mom Entrepenuer? I have had an online store for 6-7 years now.

5. What made you get into the business? I got started doing embroidery because my mom got a machine and I thought it was so neat. I also was looking for a way to make some extra money but still be home with my boys.

6. What motivates you? I have a nephew now who is two. He has some special needs and I am always thrilled to find a product that he loves. I love to be able to offer a custom gift that the recipient will really cherish.

7. Can you recommend any good resources/websites/networks? I am always just surfing around looking at new gift ideas.
