I was in an online meeting today hosted by a successful mompreneur. When she asked me what my business is, I said: "I sell tees for coupon queens and frugalistas and the direction I'm going in is to show how being frugal and green go..." I got cut off - not in a rude way - and asked to back up and give my "one minute elevator pitch". I fumbled terribly and then was told that she couldn't understand my purpose looking at my website. I was so taken aback by all of this.
So, I would love to get some feedback on what is unclear about my website. I was under the impression that it's very straightforward. I mean, it's a tee. I didn't think it was that complicated, however, I do name my target audience a few times on the home page. I don' think I would have sold any if the intent were unclear and no one has ever mentioned anything like this. Even the tee is straightforward--you know who it's for and the message being conveyed.
I understand that one tee doesn't say much regarding future plans, but I have this info on the FAQ and the site's blog.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated--and don't worry about hurting my feelings. ;)
